RSU to Host ‘The Haunted Hour: Secrets in STEM’ Oct. 31

This Halloween, pumpkins won’t be the only thing with stems.

“The Haunted Hour: Secrets in STEM,” an afternoon of spooky, STEM-themed Halloween fun, is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, in the main lobby of Herrington Hall on RSU’s Claremore campus.

This event will tie STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) with Halloween fun, allowing attendees to explore cybersecurity, fly drones, launch paper rockets, try their hand at pumpkin bowling and uncover some of the hidden “secrets” of STEM.

This event is free and open to the public. Costumes are encouraged and all ages are welcome.

RSU Senior Reflects on Semester Overseas as Brad Henry Scholar

Every year, select college students have the opportunity to spend a semester studying abroad, courtesy of the Brad Henry International Scholarship.

This year, one of those Brad Henry scholars was Rogers State University’s own Isaac Dean.

As a Brade Henry scholar, Shawnee native Dean spent his spring 2025 semester not on the Hill, but amongst the hills of Swansea in Wales, United Kingdom at the prestigious Swansea University.

“It was an incredible experience – I made so many great memories and got the chance to see parts of the world I never would have (without the scholarship),” Dean said. “It was truly remarkable.”

RSU’s Haunting on the Hill Returns Oct. 24-25

Rogers State University’s annual celebration of the Halloween season rises from the grave later this month with the return of Haunting on the Hill.

Slated for 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, Haunting on the Hill is the university’s annual student-hosted Halloween event, to which RSU students and members of the community are invited to the Hill for some spooky shenanigans. Admission is free and the event is presented by RSU’s Campus Activities Team student organization.

Haunting on the Hill’s central attraction is a haunted house tour, with Preparatory Hall again being converted into three floors of thrills and chills, with each floor having a different theme, each of them full of frights and delights.

As in past years, the frightening fun begins on the bottom-most floor in the basement, and visitors work their way up to the top floor, culminating in a haunted elevator ride back down to the bottom floor.

The whole tour takes around 15 minutes and is family-friendly, though not recommended for very small children or those who are easily frightened.

Haunting on the Hill is completely hosted by RSU students – from decorators to scare actors, guides, and more – and is one of the university’s biggest open community events, attracting more than 1,000 attendees annually.
