Rogers State University Ranked in Top 10 ‘Best Colleges’ by U.S. News and World Report

Rogers State University has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top universities in the western region of the United States in its “2026 Best Colleges” rankings, released Tuesday, Sept. 23.

RSU ranked 10th in “Top Public Schools – Regional Colleges of the West,” matching the highest ranking on the list for any college or university in the state of Oklahoma. The “West” region includes 15 states, from Oklahoma and Texas, all the way to California, the West Coast, and Alaska.

RSU received another top placement in the region, ranking 27th on the list for “Overall Rank – Regional Colleges of the West,” up four spots from 31st place on the same list in 2025.

RSU also received recognition in the 34th position for “Top Performers on Social Mobility – Regional Colleges of the West,” up from its previous ranking of 35th in this category. This ranking is based on an institution’s success in graduating students who receive Federal Pell grants, as well as additional factors including graduation rates for first generation college students.

RSU Hosts OMA KIA Wreath Laying Ceremony During Oklahoma Military Academy Reunion

Rogers State University welcomed back former cadets and their families to Claremore for the annual Oklahoma Military Academy (OMA) Reunion this weekend.

On Saturday morning, Sept. 20, they began a new tradition with a special wreath laying ceremony at the OMA KIA Memorial on the RSU campus. The Memorial honors OMA cadets who served in the military and were killed in action.

RSU President Dr. Don Raleigh, former cadet Randy Vierling and Bonnie Gooch, sister of Capt. Michael Casey, OMA Class of 1966 and KIA in Vietnam in 1970, laid the wreath at the memorial. Members of RSU’s Guard Officer Leadership Development Program, or “GOLD” Program, also participated in the ceremony.

The Oklahoma Military Academy operated on the campus from 1919 to 1971 and is a predecessor institution for Rogers State University. A museum dedicated to its history is housed on the RSU campus.

RSU Homecoming 2025 Scheduled for Sept. 26 through Oct. 5

Rogers State University invites all alumni “Back to the Hill” for a week of fun, school-spirited activities and events for homecoming week from Sept. 26 through Oct. 5.

Hosted by the RSU Alumni Association in tandem with the Office of Student Affairs, RSU HOCO ’25 gets underway off campus Friday, Sept. 26, with the annual “Paint the Town” event.

At this traditional pre-homecoming activity, RSU students converge on Ne-Mar with the painting of various Hillcat-themed designs on the windows of participating businesses. Volunteers from various RSU organizations will be handling the painting duties with paint supplied by Spectrum Paint in downtown Claremore. Each decorated window will include the name of the organization responsible and a QR code to allow the public to vote for best décor. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. Voting will remain open through Sunday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m.

Stuart Family Foundation Provides $1 Million Pledge to STEM@RSU Campaign

The Tulsa-based Stuart Family Foundation has pledged $1 million to the Rogers State University Foundation and its STEM@RSU Campaign, marking a significant step forward toward meeting its $10 million goal.

The STEM@RSU Campaign was launched to provide private support for the construction of the $32 million Center for Science and Technology at RSU. The Center will become home to many of RSU’s STEM-based programs, including engineering, cybersecurity and information assurance, robotics, artificial intelligence and molecular biology.

“The Stuart Family Foundation has been friends of Rogers State University for a long time, beginning with the late Jon Stuart and continuing with current trustees John B. Turner and Susan Stuart Peterson,” said Dr. Larry Rice, campaign chairman. “Their investment in this campaign is a strong statement of support for the life-changing opportunities provided by RSU to northeast Oklahomans.”

The Center for Science and Technology is the centerpiece of RSU’s commitment to provide skilled graduates in the high demand occupations that are needed to grow Oklahoma’s economy.

Located near the MidAmerica Industrial Park, the Tulsa Ports of Catoosa and Inola, and Tulsa’s aerospace and technology hubs, RSU is uniquely positioned to provide educational opportunities to meet the business and industry workforce needs of the area.

“The Center for Science and Technology is a transformational opportunity for RSU to become a regional leader in the leading career fields of today and beyond,” said Dr. Don Raleigh, RSU president. “We are grateful to the Stuart Family Foundation for their generosity and belief in our mission.”
