Rogers State University has named Dr. Kim Dyce as head of the Department of Teacher Education.

A native of New York, Dr. Dyce comes to RSU with more than 25 years of experience in education. She assumed duties in her new role at RSU effective Monday, Oct. 20.

“I am excited to join the Hillcat team and work alongside dedicated educators who are committed to enriching the learning experiences of our future teacher education students,” Dyce said. “This is an inspiring moment to be part of meaningful innovation, as Rogers State University continues to partner with school systems across the state to recruit and prepare the next generation of teachers.”

Congratulations to Rogers State University graduate student Seyton Thomas on her recent crowning as 2026 Royal International Miss Oklahoma.

As Royal International Miss Oklahoma, Pryor native Thomas will represent the state in the international competition next summer in Orlando, Florida.

Thomas is a veteran beauty pageant competitor who has won numerous titles, among them, Miss Oklahoma Collegiate America. She is currently working on her Master of Science in Community Counseling degree at RSU.

Thomas will serve as the master of ceremonies for the upcoming Red & Navy Royale Auction and Dinner on Nov. 8 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa.

Every year, select college students have the opportunity to spend a semester studying abroad, courtesy of the Brad Henry International Scholarship.

This year, one of those Brad Henry scholars was Rogers State University’s own Isaac Dean.

As a Brade Henry scholar, Shawnee native Dean spent his spring 2025 semester not on the Hill, but amongst the hills of Swansea in Wales, United Kingdom at the prestigious Swansea University.

“It was an incredible experience – I made so many great memories and got the chance to see parts of the world I never would have (without the scholarship),” Dean said. “It was truly remarkable.”
