RSU Foundation to Hold Annual Business Meeting Oct. 23

The Rogers State University Foundation will hold its annual business meeting Thursday, Oct. 23, in Conference Rooms B and C on the second floor of the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center on the RSU campus in Claremore. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public, and all donors and supporters of RSU are invited to attend.

“Through its donors, the Foundation continues to have a tremendous impact on RSU and its students,” said Misty Choat, chairman of the Foundation’s board of directors. “The annual meeting provides an opportunity for the Board of Directors to provide a transparent view into our performance.”

On the meeting agenda are presentations from the Foundation’s auditors and investment managers, an update on Foundation and RSU activities, and the election of new members to the board of directors.

In addition to its usual role in securing private support for scholarships, the Foundation is assisting RSU in the construction of the Center for Science and Technology (CST). The Foundation is leading the STEM@RSU Campaign, a $10 million effort to complete funding for the CST.

The Rogers State University Foundation is an independent not-for-profit corporation that encourages and supports charitable giving for the benefit of Rogers State University. The Foundation acts as the principal organization through which charitable gifts are made and administered for the benefit of RSU.

RSU Criminal Justice Society to Host ‘Coffee with a Cop’ Oct. 15

Rogers State University’s Criminal Justice Society will welcome representatives from local law enforcement agencies to the Hill this month at the Coffee with a Cop event.

Slated for Wednesday, Oct. 15, Coffee with a Cop is a recurring event that allows RSU students, faculty and staff to informally engage with officers from more than a dozen law enforcement agencies, such as the Claremore Police Department, Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, and others in an informal get-together between peace officers and members of the campus community.

This free event provides an opportunity to foster positive relationships and open communication in a casual, friendly setting, offering a chance to ask questions and voice concerns without any specific agenda. Light breakfast refreshments will be provided.

This event will be held 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Room 135 of Herrington Hall on RSU’s Claremore campus.

RSU’s Criminal Justice Society is a student organization that promotes academic excellence to make those who work within the criminal justice system more effective. The group is open to RSU students interested in criminal justice and meets at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays in Room 129 of Herrington Hall.

RSU SGA Leaders Speak to Students at Choices Alternative Learning Program

Rogers State University Student Government Association (SGA) President Brysen Morgan and other RSU student leaders recently spoke to Claremore students about the importance of a college education.

Morgan, along with SGA Vice President Isaiah Dowdican, SGA Press Secretary Xeefa Lor, and SGA Speaker of the House Trinity Concepcion, addressed 35 students at the CHOICES Alternative Learning Program, emphasizing the value of pursuing a post-secondary education.

The RSU students used interactive activities to engage the class and to highlight how higher education can create pathways to future success.

The CHOICES Alternative Learning Program is part of Claremore Public Schools and is now referred to as the Claremore Learning Center (CLC). It is designed to provide a more tailored and supportive educational experience for students who need a non-traditional path to graduation.
